My name is Sue and my job is to manage the five teams that make up Southampton Day Services.
Southampton Day Services provides a Supported Employment Service (City Limits), a gardening project and three community bases at Freemantle, Bitterne and St Denys.
In my day to day job
- I manage new referrals to the Service from Care Managers, working with my team to meet the persons need.
- I am responsible for the budget at Southampton Day Services and have to make sure we don't spend more than we have.
- I and my team work with lots of different community organisations trying to set up and support new things in the community for adults with learning disabilities.
- I attend lots of meetings looking at how we can make sure we achieve the White Paper Objectives in Southampton.
I have been the Manager at Southampton Day Services for 6 years now, things have changed a lot in that time. I have worked in Southampton for 20 years in the learning disability services, starting at Southampton Day Services in 1986. I started work in Manchester working as a Day Service Officer in a Day Service.
