Southampton Learning Disability Partnership Board

My name is Hilary and my job has lots of different parts. I am employed to help make Valuing People happen in Southampton.

• I make sure that members of the Partnership Board and the Local Implementation Group (the LIG) know when meetings are and that they have all the information in plenty of time to think about it.
• I meet up with people with a learning disability and family carers when asked to talk about their concerns.
• I go out to talk to people and groups to tell them about “Valuing People” and what Southampton is doing. I ask them how they are involving people with learning disabilities.
• I go to Regional and National meetings to find out what is happening elsewhere.
• I write reports and keep the website up to date

I started work as a social worker in London and then moved down to Southampton. I have worked in different places and when Southampton became a Unitary I became a team manager! I was part of the team that helped people move from Tatchbury, Prospect and Kentish and one of the Team managers for the Learning Disability team before I got this job.
